Reviews from Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2024
“Coloff is far from second rate. Throughout the show we are treated to the most inspired and immaculate cello performances, along with gorgeous singing. She is one with her instrument. The music ebbs and flows, as do the stories. She is a vibrant and captivating storyteller. We laugh with her as she describes some of her childhood experiences with humour. We cheer for her successes.”
Coloff tells her story with anger and humour always simmering under the surface of words, lyrics, and a beautiful physicality as she plays her cello. She is most comfortable on stage and I found myself most engrossed in her deeply personal story when she accompanied herself on the instrument she has mastered. I was expecting the talented playing but was surprised and impressed by her soulful and rock-infused vocals. I would happily listen to this soundtrack that pushed my perceptions of how a cello can fit within different musical genres.
Mixing together various genres with live music, cleverly-written jokes, and an emphasis on storytelling, Leah is a clear star who can command the stage.
